Steven Sampson, M.D.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with additional qualifications in Hand Surgery, Dr. Steven Sampson brings over 25 years of experience to the team at Stony Brook Orthopaedic Associates, where he serves as the Chief of the Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Sampson is the Medical Director of Physical and Occupational Therapy at Stony Brook University Medical Center, and the Associate Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics within the Stony Brook University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sampson completed his Bachelor’s degree from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania before attending Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey for his medical degree. His postgraduate training included an internship at Brown University and a residency in Orthopaedics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sampson also completed a Hand fellowship and served as a visiting Foot and Ankle fellow at Roosevelt Hospital in New York.
Dr. Sampson has remained involved in many orthopaedic research efforts, and has had articles, book chapters and abstract papers published in various medical journals. He has also presented his work at numerous conferences and society meetings. Dr. Sampson is also a member of several professional and scientific organizations, including the American Society for Surgery, American Society for Hand Surgery and the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association.
